Our story
Where LicenceLane comes from
LicenceLane was founded by a former Queensland Transport and Main Roads driving examiner with driver-training experience since 2006. That experience shaped how the platform presents licence information: plainly, and linked to the official source. LicenceLane is not affiliated with or endorsed by TMR.
LicenceLane is launching in 2026. The independent instructor supplies the lesson or test-day service; LicenceLane runs the platform, the booking system and the payment.
Car lessons can be booked anywhere in Australia an instructor covers. LR, MR, HR and HC training is offered only in Queensland. If nobody covers your suburb yet, you will see that, and you can ask to be told when someone does.

Documents checked before listing
Driver licence, instructor authority, Working With Children Check where required, and insurance are on file before an instructor can take a booking.
The full price before you pay
LicenceLane sets the displayed price for each service. Your total and what it includes are shown before any payment.
Times the instructor has made bookable
Instructors choose and activate the times they make bookable on LicenceLane. Free time in an instructor's own calendar does not become bookable automatically. LicenceLane rechecks availability during checkout to help reduce double-booking.
Pickup or meeting location by service
Where a booking starts depends on the service. A car lesson usually starts from the suburb you choose; a heavy-vehicle service may start at a depot or test centre. Your booking records the suburb you chose.
Cancellation terms in writing
Cancellation and refund rules depend on the service and how much notice you give.

LicenceLane is independent of TMR and other government licensing authorities. It does not issue driver licences or conduct government driving tests.
Our standards
What every instructor clears first
A marketplace is only as good as the bar for joining it. Nobody can be booked on LicenceLane until all of this is on file and current. These are checks recorded by LicenceLane, not a government endorsement.
- Driver licence for every class they list
- State or territory driving-instructor licence or accreditation
- Working With Children Check, where the law requires one for students under 18
- Insurance cover for paid instruction
- Expiry dates tracked: a lapsed document removes the instructor's times from LicenceLane availability
